What First Seemed Like Healing

I was drawn to Reiki during a vulnerable season of my life. My body was suffering. My emotions were heavy. I was desperate for healing, for peace, for relief. Traditional medicine couldn’t fix me, and spiritually, I felt disconnected and hungry for something deeper.

That’s when Reiki entered my world.

I started with Level 1, curious but hopeful. The sensations were calming. The experiences seemed gentle. I was told I was connecting to a universal life force—the same energy that flows through all things. It sounded beautiful. I continued to Level 2, then became a Reiki Master. Eventually, I reached the Advanced Reiki Master level, where I could attune others, train students, and expand my “spiritual gifts.”

But with that elevation came greater exposure to the spiritual realm—and to deception.

The Spiritual Reality Behind Reiki

As an Advanced Reiki Master, I wasn’t just “moving energy.” I was invoking symbols, calling on spirit guides, communicating with so-called angels, and balancing chakras. I was operating in what I believed was light and healing—but it came at a cost.

Every session required me to spiritually “protect myself.” I couldn’t just walk in and channel energy freely. If I didn’t shield myself, I was met with a dark, almost suffocating presence in the room. It became normal to call on spirit guides and guardian angels for help.

But if something is truly good and of God, why would it require defense from spiritual attack?

That question haunted me.

The Illusion of Light

One of the most dangerous lies in Reiki is how “good” it feels. Clients would walk out of a session feeling light, relaxed, and sometimes miraculously better. But that relief was never permanent. It faded. The spiritual high wore off. And then, like a drug, they’d return for another dose.

This is how the enemy works—temporary peace in exchange for long-term bondage.

2 Corinthians 11:14 warns us clearly: “Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”

Reiki isn’t neutral. It doesn’t matter if it “feels good.” That’s not the measure of truth. The enemy’s greatest tool is making darkness look like light.

The Moment of Clarity: God’s Word Cut Through

Everything began to shift when I started reading the Bible—at first, just a little. One verse stood out like a flashing light in the dark:

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.”

-Psalm 23:4-

I began to speak it aloud before my sessions. Strangely, the darkness didn’t press in when I used Scripture. But the more I turned to God’s Word, the more incompatible it felt to continue with Reiki. I physically couldn’t verbalize the symbols anymore. It was like my spirit had been rewired. I had opened my heart to the true Light, and the counterfeit had no place in me anymore.

Eventually, I walked away completely. I turned to Christ. And I never looked back.

The Truth About Reiki’s Source

Let’s be very clear: Reiki is not “just energy.” It is a spiritual practice rooted in Eastern mysticism and occult symbols. The energy you’re channeling is not neutral—it is spiritual, and it is real, but it does not come from God.

God’s Word is very clear:

• “Have nothing to do with sorcery, divination, or mediumship.” -Deuteronomy 18:10–12
• “Test the spirits to see whether they are from God.” -1 John 4:1
• “You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too.” -1 Corinthians 10:21

Reiki bypasses Jesus. It calls on spiritual sources apart from Him. That alone should be enough to sound the alarm.

Why Christians Must Wake Up

Some Christians believe they can combine Reiki with their faith—calling it “Holy Spirit energy” or claiming they’re healing in Jesus’ name. But that’s not how spiritual authority works.

Jesus never used symbols. He never needed energy work. He healed with a word, a touch, or a command. His power came directly from the Father, not from channeling anything.

By engaging in Reiki, you are stepping into a spiritual realm where you are not in control—you are opening yourself to spirits that do not submit to Christ.

What Changed When I Left Reiki for Christ

When I turned to Jesus, my life changed in ways Reiki never could achieve:

• My health improved.
• My anxiety and emotional instability lifted.
• I no longer felt spiritually drained or under pressure to “protect myself.”
• I stopped needing to fix others—I started praying for them.
• My soul was no longer searching for peace—it had found it.

Jesus said,

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives.”

-John 14:27

Reiki gives a false peace. Jesus gives the real thing.

If You’re Practicing Reiki, Please Hear Me

I share this not out of judgment, but out of love. I wish someone had told me the truth sooner. I thought I was helping people—I thought I was healing myself. But I was walking in darkness, thinking it was light.

If you’re a Christian dabbling in Reiki, repent. Renounce it. Get rid of the symbols, the books, the training. Ask Jesus to cleanse you and fill you with His Holy Spirit. You don’t need energy when you have God with you.
